Baffled in blog-land

Can anyone tell me why my “Playing Dumb,” blogged on Oct. 26, 2006, has all of a sudden become my hottest item, with 122 hits, or “views,” as WordPress says, in the last two days?

It’s about North Shore congressional candidate Dan Seals likened to the Big O. as a comer, with Seals downplaying it,

saying the only similarity is their complexion — both are African-American.

I note that the “boiler-plate analysis” provided by the Sun-Times writer would have made an o.k. lede, and that’s about it.  How did this become so relatively (for me) popular?

  1. Where the hits or views are coming from might give some indication of why there were so many hits on your “Playing Dumb” blog. Dan Seals is running against my congressman, Republican Mark Kirk. Although lacking the experience or the qualifications to function as a congressman in the 10th District, Seals is making great headway here on the Northshore. He almost beat Kirk two years ago. It is my feeling that Seals is attempting to hide his ethnic background as an African American from his voters. Northshore voters are mostly suburban voters and as such race might be a factor in the minds of some voters in the way they cast their ballots in November. This has already surfaced in the way people feel about Obama. It cannot be denied that race will be a factor in the November elections. Because Seals is mostly unknown outside the 10 District, the comparison made between Seals and Obama –both African American — might have raised the curiosity of many to further investigate your posting. Naturally Seals wants to avoid the African American comparsion, but Seals is not adverse to sounding like and being endorsed by Obama!
