Power Line on promotion of high-risk mortgage lending as product of Democrat, not Republican, ideology and maneuvering, quoting a fellow calling for “each reporter and editor . . . insisting on telling the truth” in the matter:
But the mainstream media–which is to say, most reporters and editors who work for “mainstream” news organizations–have no honor and are not interested in truth. They are, as Card says, “the public relations machine of the Democratic Party.”
It’s time to accept that fact and move on. Our existing news organizations–the New York Times, the Associated Press, NBC, CNN, CBS, and so on–can’t be reformed, they can only be ignored.
It is time for conservatives, libertarians, moderates, and normal citizens who are interested in straightforward reporting of the news to build their own news organizations in competition with the corrupt ones that now exist.
Ignoring is the best policy, accompanied by journalistic entrepreneurship.
I’ve been ignoring what Rush calls the mainstream media for some time. After the shameful Chicago Tribune endorsement of Obama, I went one step further and cancelled my Tribune subscription, further writing the following to editor Gerould Kern and the Tribune board: “Now that the Tribune has shamefully endorsed Barack Obama for president, a socialist and friend of numerous individuals who embrace a Marxist philosophy, I no long want to spend my money to purchase a paper whose board has closed its eyes to who Obama really is and what he respresents. The Chicago Tribune has become knee deep in the corrupt Chicago Way. I predict thousands more will cancel their subscriptions once they hear of your Barack Obama endorsement. Such is expected of the Chicago Sun-Times, but not of the Chicago Tribune? Coupled with the turnoff of your new tabloid format, your news presentation is no longer rational, as such it is unbelievable and extremely biased. Your decision will only hasten the death knell for your already dying newspaper.”
