God bless Father Pfleger for being on hand to console the grieving mother over the murder of her son outside a South Side community center.
And our condolences to him on having no reason to bus kids and mothers down to the State of Illinois building to protest inaction on new gun controls to go with unenforceable gun controls already in place.
He would have to protest against easy accessibility to lethal two-by-fours.
He did manage something quotable, however:
“No longer should our children be living in this kind of fear,” said the Rev. Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina’s Church. “It’s time to forego guns and two-by-fours and have that stop being the way we treat and handle each other.”
Note he said “forego,” not “ban.” Nothing profound there, but enough to head off a new slogan, “Two-by-fours don’t kill, people do.”

I realize that you’re being wry here, Jim, but Pfleger’s devoted his entire career to fomenting hatred, and then he compains when it splatters onto the “wrong” target.
He’s evil. Simply evil.

Sorry, I agree with the writer for commending Father Pfleger . I have seen the goodness of his heart. He loves those children, and his community. He speaks the truth which is often misunderstood or twisted. We may not always agree with what someone has to say at but least he makes the attempt to bring the peace to our troubled environment. God Bless You Father Pfleger!

Alas, I was being wry, and I have objected to Fr. Pfleger’s busing of kids to protest inaction of further gun control. And his tactics have been too well understood as sometimes crude at best and homicidal at worst. I have also commended the job he has done as pastor at a once moribund parish, which is what recommends him to Dee, I’m sure.
