What this church needs is a good realistic history of its pluses and minuses, with an even better call and argument for faith in its fundamentals. It (we) have survived worse popes. Keep that in mind.

Why I wonder has Francis irked so many…the pews seem to like him….the Cardinals not so much…are they keeping the ship on steady course….or are they letting sink for lack of sailors???

A key question. This once-pseudonymous writer, author of a well received book about the church since Vatican 2, presents a telling case for the former, in full realization that Francis is a hero to the pews. Not all, by any means, to judge by the “dictator” book’s considerable success in sales, which is how people vote on such matters. We shall see. F. has a keen eye and ear for his audience. Cardinals not so much.
