The Case Against Single Payer: How ‘Medicare for All’ Will Wreck America’s Health Care System―And Its Economy

Hot topic dissected:

Long thought of as an idealistic but unrealistic proposition promoted by far-left activists, single-payer health care has become a major discussion point across the political landscape.

Bernie Sanders made it a central focus of his insurgent 2016 run for the Democratic presidential nomination against Hillary Clinton. House Democrats’ messaging on health care in the 2018 midterm elections, and the burgeoning campaign for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, have elevated single-payer even further, bringing the issue to the center of American politics.

Surprisingly, however, few books have examined the impact of a single-payer health care system in depth—and most of those that have done so come from a leftist perspective supporting this dramatic change.

This vacuum in the current literature cries out for a work making the case against single payer—one which educates the American people about the damaging effects of this proposed health care takeover.

Written for a broad audience ranging from interested citizens to leaders in the conservative movement, The Case Against Single Payer will explain the harmful implications of giving the federal government unfettered control of the health care system.

A book to buy, is my guess.

On Hong Kong the Pope Is Silent. Obedient to Beijing

Oh what a web we weave, when we shake hands with — the devil? (What devil? What you talkin’ ’bout?)

Silence on everything that could irritate the Beijing authorities is certainly one of the many prices that the Holy See has agreed to pay, to keep from breaking up the fragile accord on the appointment of bishops that it sealed on September 22 2018 with China.

It is a silence to which the first to submit is Pope Francis, usually extremely talkative about everyone and everything, but who on the popular protests that have been raging in Hong Kong for three months has not said word one.

And yet from the beginning the protests have seen in the front ranks Christians, and above all Catholics, who are only 8 percent of the city’s population but are very active and influential, starting with their highest authorities: . . .

Realpolitik.

criminal justice reform

I asked Bing, or punched the question per a Bing prompt,Is the criminal justice system a crime in itself?” and got this from a site called socialworkhelper.com:

What has become clear by crime statistics is that money is the center of most crime even if you are reluctant to apply the biblical teachings of Timothy, where he states that the love of money is the root of all evil.

Well, I tell you, social work helper, even if  you are reluctant to do a little more research into who said what about money and evil, you might do it anyhow and find that Paul, not his friend Timothy, said it, in a letter to Timothy. Just sayin’.

And why the heck are some social workers reluctant to apply Paul’s teachings (presumably endorsed by Timothy) in the first place? Just askin’.

#BlackLivesMatter, White Guilt and the Marketing of Racism

We are being played.

I can’t breathe.

I’m . . .  fighting back tears as I write, again, about this prevalent injustice. They don’t see us as individual human beings, but a group to be exploited, separated, and judged based on our pigmentation.

I’m talking about mainstream media and their manipulation of all Americans, corralling us into our respective color zones. They have a narrative to peddle. And we see it with every tragic account of black Americans killed by those tasked with the extremely dangerous job of serving and protecting. I’m repulsed by a news media that is hell-bent on fomenting a racial war.

I’m angry by the seemingly impulsive and irreversible actions of a handful of overzealous police officers whose punishment (if that even happens in court) will never bring back these precious lives.

Many of us can recall the names: Trayvon Martin . . .

Etc. etc. New-style journalism run amok.

The Trayvon Hoax That Divided America Is About to Be Exposed

a.k.a. the Black Lives Matter fraud,

On Monday. September 16, Joel Gilbert will preview his new documentary, “The Trayvon Hoax,” in the 500-seat Ballroom of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The screening begins at 1 p.m. Admission is free, and Gilbert is encouraging all interested parties to come see for themselves what could be a game-changer in the way the media report racially-charged news. Gilbert’s findings are that significant.

Having written a book on the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin — If I Had a Son— I have been following Gilbert’s progress with interest. In fact, I introduced Gilbert to George Zimmerman, the man who shot Martin. Those who have followed the case know that not since the Scottsboro boys has any ordinary citizen endured the kind of malicious and conspicuously false reporting Zimmerman has. My hope was that Gilbert would set the record straight.

Gilbert has done that and more. In the course of his relentless research into the shooting and subsequent trial, I can say without risk of overstatement that he has unearthed a legal fraud the likes of which I know no parallel. Not only has Gilbert discovered it, but he has also proved it six ways from Sunday, including DNA and handwriting analysis.

Gimme that old-time journalism . . .

Chicago May Be the Next Major U.S. City to Declare Bankruptcy

The grim situation that should be on everyone’s minds, you’d think.

The city of Chicago is in dire fiscal and financial straits with an almost billion dollar budget deficit, bonds rated at junk status or below, numerous extremely costly legal judgments, a shrinking tax base, and unfunded public pension liabilities to the tune of an astonishing $42 billion.

Other than that, it’s a great place to live.

So?

The state of Illinois has its own financial troubles, so the city can expect little or no help there. And good luck getting a federal bailout through the GOP Senate and signed by a president who’s been called a “racist” by the mayor.

The shrinking tax base is clear proof that citizens are already over taxed. And since it’s Democrats in charge, there won’t be much cutting of city services.

The only option for Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the city council is restructuring the city’s massive debts. In other words: bankruptcy.

Which as I have understood it, means trouble. For all of us, we presume, though for some more than others.

Pope Says He Doesn’t Fear Possible Schism With U.S. Conservatives

He handles nay-sayers neatly.

“The criticisms aren’t just from Americans, they are a little bit [?] everywhere,” even in the Vatican, the pope said on Tuesday, adding that he welcomes such feedback as long as it is straightforward.

News to many. He usually ignores critics.

“At least those who criticize have the honesty to say it.

Would be good if he would name one.

“I like that. I don’t like it when the criticisms are under the table and they smile and show their teeth and then there is a knife in the back,” he said.’

He likes public criticism? Wow. Holy father!
