Pope Francis, in one of the most significant decisions of his papacy, has dismissed a proposal to allow some married men to be ordained in the Amazon region to ease an acute scarcity of priests.

    1. . . . shorter by the day. Is Francis encouraging or discouraging more traditional, back-to-basics operations who are ordaining many more priests than the, ah, conventional? Good question, for which I have an answer: Surely not encouraging and in some cases discouraging. His agenda runs in opposition to these groups. more more more to come on this weighty subject. Glad you brought it up . . .
