Social justice activist syndrome

Chicken or egg problem addressed by Instapundit:

I wonder — does social-justice activism lead to mental and emotional problems, or is it a symptom? I’m thinking the latter.

Leaning that way myself, with this addendum: Indulging in this behavior of course aggravates the condition.

It may start small, with an overdose of unfocused compassion. One thing leads to another . . .

What Pope Francis said about Trump and how did he say it?

This reportage is important:

When asked whether Catholics in the United States should vote for Trump, the pope answered, “As far as what you said about whether I would advise to vote or not to vote, I am not going to get involved in that. I say only that this man is not Christian if he has said things like that.”

CNN reported that the pontiff “appeared somewhat unaware of Trump’s exact stance on illegal immigration,” and quoted him to say that he would give Trump “the benefit of the doubt” until he hears exactly what the candidate has to say. 

Headlines did not capture this, unfortunately.

Toilets are fair game in Minnesota town

Town inspectors’ overreaching, say landlords. Town fathers and mothers blocked but continue pressing their suit.

Landlords in Golden Valley, Minnesota, are challenging mandatory inspections of rental properties that go down to the toilet.

Even though a judge agreed, the town is still fighting. Eric Boehm reports:Even after one Minnesota judge ruled that Golden Valley can’t conduct inspections without a good reason, the city is spending more taxpayer money on an appeal.
