Cat has tongue of monsignor

Bishop Edward Braxton has suspended a priest for not following the missal when saying mass. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch asked for comment, but

A spokesman for the diocese, Monsignor John Myler, did not respond to a request for an interview.

That’s a shame, passing up a teachable moment, as they say in school-ville. He represents the holy church but cat has his tongue when he’s given the chance to explain what’s going on? Lack of apostolic spirit there, I’d say.

Pat Hickey ties into Cadillac commies et al.

They are perpetrators of thug comfort zone.

A Genuine Shower of Bastards – G. Flint Taylor and the Architects of Chicago’s Thug Comfort Zone

Ceasefire ( Gangbanger Pensioners), Marches, T-Shirts, and Gun Turn-Ins are band-aids on cancer. Chicago is and has been a Thug Comfort Zone where murdering thugs without any moral compass are allowed to kill with impunity and often immunity.

The lawyers and the media and gutless elected officials have helped every gang and independent sociopath feel free to murder in the knowledge that G. Flint Taylor, Jon Loevy and Locke Bowman as well as the Innocense Project and other massively funded university based ‘feel-good’ coalitions of the comfortable have their backs.

Hickey does not come from nowhere in the matter of black urban crime, being immersed in salvation of black men rather than of black gangsters, at Leo High on Sangamon Street, where young men get not a second chance but a first chance.

Chicago, Chicago, my kind of second-rate city

Chicago was the cat’s meow in the ’90s. Millennium Park and all that. “The Milan of the Midwest,” said Wash Post. No more, says Aaron M. Renn in City Journal.

. . . [D]espite the chorus of praise, its becoming evident that the city took a serious turn for the worse during the first decade of the new century. The gleaming towers, swank restaurants, and smart shops remain, but Chicago is experiencing a steep decline quite different from that of many other large cities. It is a deeply troubled place, one increasingly falling behind its large urban brethren and presenting a host of challenges for new mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Two hundred thousand people left town. It was the only one of the 15 biggest U.S. cities to lose anyone in the 2010 census. Cook County also lost people, one of only two to do so of the nation’s 15 largest counties. The other one? Detroit’s Wayne County. The Loop lost 18.6% of its private sector jobs. The city’s “real per-capita GDP ranks eighth out of the countrys ten largest metros,” says Renn.

I don’t remember reading anything like this in Chi newspapers. Can you imagine reading this?

Its easy to see how fiascoes like the parking-meter lease happen where civic culture is rotten and new ideas cant get a hearing. Chicagos location already isolates it somewhat from outside views. Combine that with the culture of clout, and you get a city thats too often an echo chamber of boosterism lacking a candid assessment of the challenges it faces.

Echo chamber of boosterism, yes. It’s in the papers every day, defensive, wagon-circling, self-protective. Second-rate indeed.

Renn? He’s an urban analyst, consultant, and publisher of the urban policy website The Urbanophile. Frankly, if he were Joe the Bartender, it wouldn’t matter, the points are so telling.

Mary Mitchell vs. Joe Walsh: she misses the point

Sun-Times’

Joe Walsh
Did she miss his point? Joe Walsh (Photo credit: Gage Skidmore)

Mary Mitchell says Congr. Joe Walsh is spreading an “old and tired” stereotype when he says blacks are dependent on government. She proves it by spreading the old and tired argument that most on welfare etc. are whites. But that’s proving very little, in that blacks are 13% of the total, which we all think she realizes.

What she’s looking for is the percentage of blacks who are on welfare etc. This is what backs up or refutes Walsh. Would she please look that up and report back to us readers? I could do it but I’ll be darned if I’m going to do her work for her.

At the Gitmo terrorist trial, Saturday night live

This lady thinks she’s part of a bar association skit:

One of the defense lawyers, Cheryl Bormann, showed up in Muslim dress covering everything but her face and demanded the women on the prosecution team dress modestly so that our clients are not forced to not look at the prosecution for fear of committing a sin under their faith. The shameless hussies at the prosecution table were dressed in military or civilian jackets and skirts.

Shameless indeed.

Naughty Chinese, says Big Government in Beijing

Big Government fans have their model:

China has stepped up its campaign to clamp down on the Internet, which has emerged as a virtual town square for exchanging information about the Bo Xilai scandal and the nation’s biggest political upheaval in years.

The popular Twitter-like microblogging service Sina Weibo on Tuesday deleted the accounts of several users, including that of Li Delin, a senior editor of the Chinese business magazine Capital Week, whose March 19 post helped fuel rumors of a coup in Beijing. The service announced the move to many of its more than 300 million user accounts, thereby turning it into a public lesson in the consequences of rumor mongering.

They have their ways of getting things done, don’t they?
