I doubt that it will catch on. If we do get to the point, though, that Obamamaniacs are walking down the street flashing the “O,” we non-cultists should think of a responsive gesture. Maybe something that only requires one hand.
Something to do with one of the fingers, I think.

Indeed! I would be a little reluctant to actually do that for both civility and safety reasons — the thought would occur to me, however.

This reminds me a lot of the hand gesture used by students in the California school that was the subject of the true story “The Wave.” In it, a teacher demonstrates how easy it is to get caught up in a cult by creating a special society among students, with a hand gesture reminiscent of the raised arm of Nazi German — the point being to suggest to students both that you should understand how easy it is to get caught up, but also the importance of keeping your eyes open. Having a secret symbol of belonging is very cultish — as was Hitler’s Germany. (And face it, liberals today are not far off of being as cultish, closed-minded, and controlling as the Nazis.)

The shape of this symbol obviously intends it to represent “ZERO.” A good fit — zero, nought, nothing, blank, etc., etc. What a beautifully appropriate symbol for the empty Obama campaign!!
