Boy, I’m torn on this one. Muslims can burn Christians alive in their churches, but an American cannot burn a Koran because it will inflame the nutcases. Anti-Americans can burn our flag without worrying about mobs running amok in retribution. So why can’t we burn Korans? The US military burned bibles printed in Pashtun to avoid offending the sensibilities of Afghans.
However, since our soldiers are at risk trying to change hearts and minds in the Middle East, it is unwise to have Americans doing anything that puts them at increased risk and undermines our efforts.
