Strawless Starbucks To Offer Cupless ‘Direct Pour’

The last straw? Not by a long shot.

Just days after announcing it would drop plastic straws to save the oceans, Starbucks today introduced the option to have your hot beverage dispensed without a cup.

The new Earth-friendly ‘Direct Pour’ service is expected to increase sales by winning over people who have avoided Starbucks as a way to protect the planet from human refuse.

Little things mean a lot.

  1. Since I do try to be conscientious about the environment, I have started washing and taking my heavy plastic salad containers back to Jewel to reuse. It’s ok with the company as long as I reuse them, not try to put them back for others to use (obviously).

I do wish that the Jewel stores and others would provide heavy paper containers for carry outs which could be composted or would degrade in landfills.
