Robert De Niro Slams Trump at the Tonys: ‘F— Trump’

Revolt of the rich and famous.

Robert De Niro had a few choice words for President Donald Trump while the legendary actor was on stage at Sunday’s Tony Awards to introduce Bruce Springsteen’s musical performance.
“I’m going to say one thing, F— Trump,” De Niro said while pumping his fists in the air. “It’s no longer down with Trump. It’s f— Trump.”
The political sentiment earned De Niro a standing ovation from the crowd at Radio City Music Hall, while CBS scrambled to bleep the audio on the live telecast.

Who are the real Neo-Gnostics?

Fr. Z. solves a problem.

It often happens, at least to me, that when Pope Francis starts swinging pejorative labels around like so many clubs, it’s hard to know just whom he means to lather.

That said, when Pope Francis uttered the epithet about Self-Absorbed Promethean Neo-Pelagians, I knew right away that that meant catholic libs.

Some years later, he is talking again about “Pelagians” and about new “Gnostics”, though not in the ancient and technical sense of the terms.

At The Catholic Thing, Fr. Thomas G. Weinandy, OFM, Cap. – bane of libs – has set his pen to electronic page to [in]scribe a comment about whom the Pope is really labeling.

Actually, he finds that Fr. Weinandy has solved it, namely whom Francis is talking about when he swings his pejorative labels.

Be careful with this. It has some nicely argued explanations. Read carefully. (Beware also Fr. Z’s witticisms. Dangerous man.)

It’s Trump’s Economy Now

Obama said he’d “set up” the economy for Trump, which is now repeated ad nauseam by his supporters.

Oh?

Mr. Obama might be justified in taking credit for today’s economy if his successor had adopted and carried on his policies.

Instead, Mr. Trump has reversed nearly every Obama rule, edict and law that he can legally overturn.

At its core, the Trump economic strategy wasn’t complicated: systematically repeal Mr. Obama’s “accomplishments”—the tax increases, the regulatory blitz on business, the welfare expansions, the war on American fossil fuels, and so on.

As a result, the economy would pop like a cork pulled from a shaken champagne bottle.

And so it has.

Francis’ least favorite cardinal takes it to the new paradigm in a very sensitive location

He’s Robert Sarah from Guinea, going after communion in the hand.

The head of the Vatican department overseeing liturgy is summoning the Catholic faithful to return to receiving Holy Communion on the tongue and kneeling.

In the preface to a new book on the subject, Cardinal Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, writes: “The most insidious diabolical attack consists in trying to extinguish faith in the Eucharist, by sowing errors and fostering an unsuitable way of receiving it. Truly the war between Michael and his Angels on one side, and Lucifer on the other, continues in the hearts of the faithful.”

Apocalyptic ballistics!

The mass today: sales pitch not soul food

Why Whittaker Chambers chose communism:

There is a deep yearning in many people in modern society for something greater than their atomized and alienated selves. Whittaker Chambers, in explaining his embrace of communism to his children, reflected that it was not Marx’s dialectic or philosophy of history that made him join up with the communists. It was that communism offered something to people deeply searching for meaning.

Catholic mass is not competing:

The kitsch-like commercialization and consumerization of the Mass, and the loss of deep reverence and mystery, has led to a deep metaphysical and ontological poverty in Catholics and the broader culture at large. But in darkness the light shines brightest. In a dark room people cannot help but be drawn to the lone candle.

Catholics come seeking bread, are given a stone. Not how it’s supposed to be.

Let us not, let not Pope Francis et al. demonstrate contempt for the mass of old.
