Oh that Swedish thing.

As the rest of Europe and the world remains under the grip of draconian rules and the threat of new lockdowns, Sweden, which allowed its citizens to remain free throughout the entire pandemic, has pretty much declared victory over the coronavirus.

The country now has one of the lowest infection rates on the planet, and it’s difficult not to admire how it has handled the past year, with no strict lockdown or compulsory face mask rules. All businesses, schools and public places remained open in Sweden for the duration.

Setbacks along the way, but look at it now.

“Sweden has gone from being the country with the most infections in Europe to the safest one,” Sweden’s senior epidemiologist Dr. Anders Tegnell commented to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

“What we see now is that the sustainable policy might be slower in getting results, but it will get results eventually,” Tegnell clarified.

“And then we also hope that the result will be more stable,” he added.

Where did Dr. T. stand on masks?

Tegnell previously warned that encouraging people to wear face masks is “very dangerous” because it

gives a false sense of security but does not effectively stem the spread of the virus.

“The findings that have been produced through face masks are astonishingly weak, even though so many people around the world wear them,” Tengell has urged.

The country deserves a debate over policy because Mr. Biden is proposing the most left-wing agenda of any major party candidate in our lifetime. The Democratic strategy is to keep Mr. Trump talking about Donald J. Trump.

Will the real Mr. Trump step forward? Rather, will he promote what he’s done and not (unwisely) what he can be at times, annoyingly.

First Democrat to issue a substantive comment on this topic?

It’s in contention for her party’s rallying cry, vs. Trump’s tired law-and-order theme? At any rate, she speaks for how many Democrats? Many, I fear.

Playing down or barely mentioning his allegedly felonious behavior, as if it’s erased because of what cop did.

New York Times Makes Hero of Jacob Blake

Telling his tale in glowing terms (New York Times). Strangely downplayed in the story: His alleged sexual assault. From another story: The woman who survived the sexual assault has been pretty much ignored. But Jacob Blake, the alleged assailant, is now the darling of the Left and the media. Not only did he stand accused of that assault, but he knowingly endangered his own children’s lives by attempting to flee the police (Washington Examiner). From Ben Shapiro: Here’s the NYT, just making a hero of a man who allegedly digitally raped a woman with her child in the room (Twitter).

Ho-hum, another hit job gone kerflooey.

Bolton: Claim Trump Called Fallen Soldiers “Losers” is “Simply False”

The Atlantic piece takes yet another hit. Bolton was on with Martha MacCallum on Fox News. Bolton, who has proven he is not afraid to say very negative things about Trump, says he was, in fact, in the room when the unnamed sources said this happened and it simply did not occur (Fox News). From Brit Hume: Once again Trump is embroiled in a heated controversy. Once again, it is about something he’s alleged to have said. And once again, his reported comments are at odds with his record, this time on veterans and the military. Such disparities have been a constant in his presidency (Twitter).

Egad, when it’s they who are the violent ones:

A cluster of far left groups, like Planned Parenthood and MoveOn, are among those who appear to believe the right is where the violence may come (Daily Beast). From Mollie Hemingway: Resistance figures signaling that they are prepping for violent resistance to 2020 election if they lose. All while claiming that what they’re AKSHUALLY doing is preparing for, uh, widespread GOP violence. Really. Some interesting projection and propaganda here (Twitter). From Michael Dougherty: There’s no talk whatsoever among mainstream or even Breitbartian Republicans of putting on displays of force on the streets around election time. But there’s a TON of it among elite Dems! (Twitter). From Will Chamberlain: Seems like the party that is currently setting cities on fire is the party that’s more likely to set cities on fire if they lose (Twitter). From Erielle Davidson: Pretty sure it’s not Trump voters burning down major cities right now. How unintelligent do these orgs think the American public is? (Twitter).

Rebound even during Covid panic:

Funny thing: the Main Stream Media seems not to have noticed just how powerful is the economic rebound revealed by August’s jobs data. A whopping 3.4 million new jobs were created according to the Household Survey. July’s gain was a mere 1.4 million by comparison. If the August gain is reprised over the next few months, we will return to pre-pandemic employment levels by the end of the year. Even better for American workers: the immigrant workforce population (legal and illegal—the data does not discriminate) fell again. It has now been declining for a whole year. All that is needed now: a permanent immigration moratorium to make sure the rebound benefits Americans.
