Is The Coronavirus Finished?

They can count, can’t they?

The Centers for Disease Control is an unreliable, politicized agency, in my opinion. But I assume they can aggregate death totals accurately from local sources. For the last year, there clearly have been some excess deaths, from all causes, over demographically predicted norms. . . .

But we also know that the overwhelming majority of people who died from covid, or rather had the word “covid” somewhere on their death certificates, were old and already very sick.

So it is reasonable to think that most “covid deaths” were people who, absent covid, would have died sometime in the next few months or the next year or two. If that is the case, we should see lower than predicted deaths from all causes going forward.

NOW can we take our finger off the panic button?

EXCLUSIVE: Republican Attorneys General Plan To Create Legal Roadblocks For Biden Agenda | The Daily Caller

Chicago Newspapers

Best political news in quite a while. AG’s to the rescue.

“We are sharpening the pencils and filling up the inkwells,” Louisiana Attorney General and former Republican Attorneys General Association Chairman Jeff Landry, who is leading two of the ongoing lawsuits against the Biden administration, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Didn’t even know they had an association, much less that its ready to push back on President Joe and his penchant for transformation of the republic.

Derek Chauvin Trial – Prosecution Problems Ignored or Misrepresented In Mainstream Media

Chicago Newspapers

Among these problems . . .

For example, the widely accepted narrative that Chauvin kept his ‘knee on the neck’ for 9 minutes has been thoroughly debunked by the prosecution’s own witnesses and the body cams.

There was pressure by Chauvin’s knee, but it was not continuously on the neck, and was mostly on the back and shoulders, according to prosecution medical witness testimony.

Recognizing this evidentiary problem, the prosecution case has shifted from the initial several trial days of claiming that pressure from the knee to the carotid artery cut off blood flow to the brain causing loss of oxygen and inability to breathe, a claim rejected by the prosecution’s own medical experts, to a broader claim that Floyd being restrained while handcuffed in the prone position with pressure from multiple officers impaired his ability to inhale.

Hong Kong Calvary 2021

Sunday sermons, weekday observations

Two men against the regime.

Jimmy Lai will keep fighting to the end, as will Martin Lee. They will fight, however, with weapons of the spirit and with real arguments – weapons that the brute force and lies deployed by the Beijing regime against them cannot match. In this, too, they are living the imitation of Christ. Both these Catholic prisoners of conscience may die in communist Chinese prisons. But they will be the real victors in the contest, because they will have remained faithful to the truth about human dignity they know as an essential part of their profound Catholic faith. And the just Judge of all will know what they have done, why they have done it, and in whose holy name they have done it. Believing that, they can fight on without rancor, nourished by the sacraments and prayer.

Like the early martyrs. But . . .

Blame Pelosi, not top Capitol cop for Jan. 6 riot

Chicago Newspapers

She’s a wicked witch.

Steven Sund, the popular US Capitol Police chief fired on live television by Nancy Pelosi less than 24 hours after January’s Capitol riot, is sorely missed by his troops in their hour of need.

Sund, a decorated, 25-year career veteran of counterterrorism at the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC, where he was commander of the Special Operations Division, had been running the Capitol police for 18 months.

. . . . .

He had tried for two days to get permission for National Guard backup before the riot but was blocked by people doing the bidding of Pelosi.

Pelosi has never owned up to her role in the woeful undermanning of the Capitol police that day. Instead, she blamed Sund and her loyal House sergeant at arms, Paul Irving.

By scapegoating Sund, who had capably led his outnumbered troops that terrible day, and…

What Is behind Francis’ Rehabilitation of Judas?by Marian T. Horvat, Ph.D.

Sunday sermons, weekday observations

More on Francis and Judas.

On three different occasions, Francis has praised Judas publicly, suggesting that the apostle who betrayed Our Lord Jesus Christ is a misunderstood personality and “the end of his story” possibly is not Hell. We should not be surprised since on other occasions the same Pope, assuring us he is following in the tradition of John Paul II, proposes that Hell as a physical place does not exist as well.

It’s important to him.
