The Crypto-Jacobin Revolution in America

Chicago Newspapers

Winding up his list of anomalies, James Kunstler asked about President Joe:

Speaking of Joe Biden, alleged to be president, he was oddly absent altogether on the front page of Monday’s New York Times, leading the curious to wonder if last Tuesday night’s Coronavirus Action speech drained his dwindling mojo for the rest of the month.

Joe, we hardly knew you.

The curious might also seek to know why Mr. Biden’s “team” is still so wound up about eradicating Coronavirus, yet eager to let tens of thousands cross the border illegally from Mexico, many of them live vectors of the virus, who are then bused all over the USA under the revived “catch-and-release” policy.

Does he know about this?

Mr. Biden’s “honeymoon” period is about over. The country had not quite discovered just how leaderless it is. Will it come as a shock to find out? After all…

Prayer to St. Joseph for a happy death

Sunday sermons, weekday observations

Many traditions hold that Joseph died in the arms or presence of Jesus and Mary.

It’s a consoling image that has led the Church to proclaim him the patron saint of a happy death.

Here is a prayer that recalls this image and can give comfort while we await death. We never know when God will call us home. In the meantime, let us prepare for that day, looking on it as a day of great joy.

Blessed Joseph, who died in the arms of Jesus and Mary, obtain for me the grace to breathe my last in praise, saying or thinking, “Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I give Thee my heart and my soul.” Amen.

Cuomo and the Covid Death Count – WSJ

Chicago Newspapers

Count not the cost for others.

The highest-cost deaths . . . were likely those not directly caused by the illness. In separate studies, U.S. government and Virginia Commonwealth University researchers say a third of “excess deaths” might fall into this category—delayed medical care, unemployment stress, substance abuse, suicide, depression, etc. One study looked at the effect of unemployment and predicted 30,231 additional deaths over a 12-month period.

Variation of old theme comes to mind: No such thing as a free lunch.

Testing the Empathizing–Systemizing theory of sex differences and the Extreme Male Brain theory of autism in half a million people | PNAS

Being in no position to verify, rebut or refute this finding, I simply offer it to you, kind reader, along with my brief comment.

In the largest study to date of autistic traits, we test 10 predictions from the Empathizing–Systemizing (E-S) theory of sex differences and the Extreme Male Brain (EMB) theory of autism. We confirmed that typical females on average are more empathic, typical males on average are more systems-oriented, and autistic people on average show a “masculinized” profile.

I thought so.

Dr. Fauci’s judgment call. Look out!

Uncertain trumpet. But look, he’s a longtime bureaucrat. So give him some room. Or, as with say with a different meaning, give him a wide berth. Don’t take him too seriously. (Which is advice lost on Democrat officials in blue states.)

Fauci Struggles to Explain Why CDC Won’t Say Vaccinated Are Safe to Fly

Telling the reporter “When you don’t have the data, and you don’t have the actual evidence, then you’ve got to make a judgment call” (Washington Examiner). Meanwhile, the data shows the rate of hospitalization for those over 50 has plunged (CDC). The New York Times now admits “New York City’s public schools have seen remarkably low virus transmission compared with the citywide rate of positive test results in the months since the nation’s largest school system reopened for thousands of students” (NY Times).

Biden’s nominee for top civil rights post hyped the Jussie Smollett hoax, criticized police for seeking actor ’s cell phone ⋆ American Wire

The lady is a loser:

  • Kristen Clarke, the nominee to lead the Justice Department’s civil rights division, fell for the false claims made by actor Jussie Smollett that he was the victim of an anti-black and anti-gay hate crime in 2019.
  • Clarke also accused the Chicago police department of “demonizing survivors” after investigators requested access to Smollett’s cell phone.
  • “Jussie Smollett was subjected to a racist and homophobic attack,” Clarke wrote on Twitter.
  • Smollett was later charged with multiple felonies for making the false hate crime report.

Chicago’s own fix-is-in classic. Biden, or whoever’s deciding for him, wants to put her in charge of, what? Civil rights? Say it isn’t so, Joe.
