The main practical objection to married priests is simply that the infrastructure and hierarchy of the Catholic Church is not equipped for this change. They don’t know how to do it and don’t want to do it.

I’ve never quite understood this conundrum, as Rome’s priests were married for the first thousand years. Monastics should keep their vows to chastity, but Orthodox priests marry, as do, if I recall correctly, all the other Catholic denominations outside of Rome.

It’s a matter of turning around a battleship. It’s been obligatory for so long. System established. Hence pros and cons.

I agree, though because I’m Orthodox, I do consider having a married clergy to be a benefit, we lose a lot of potentially good bishops because ours have to come from the monasteries. That causes me a bit of grief.
