On Archbishop Gomez of LA, elected by his fellow bishops as president of the U.S. conference of same, who wrote the statement, which Cupich calls “ill-considered.”
Cupich is a tiger here and obviously was furious about the Gomez letter.

I find it very interesting that even after several years as Francis’ “point man” in the U.S., Cardinal Cupich seems to get so little regard or respect from the American Bishops. Is it a personality conflict ? Jealousy ? Genuine difference of opinion with and/or disagreement with Rome? I’m not being critical of the Bishops, I enjoy it every time His Eminence is the subject of one of these “take downs.” But I do wonder what the operating “dynamic” is between him and the rest of the U.S.Bishops.
